The Getty Villa is a museum of Ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan artefacts and works of art.

Located in Pacific Palisades, California, it displays a collection of antiquities from each of these periods in a thematic exploration of ancient life, culture, religion and even war.

The Getty Villa is itself a reconstruction of a typical ancient villa as well as including a reconstructed theatre.

Directions:
Getty Villa is located a mile north of Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades, CA. It is accessible via the Pacific Coast Highway (via the northbound carriageway only). By car from LA, take the Santa Monica Freeway/I-10 westwards. This turns into the Pacific Coast Highway/Route 1 northbound. Follow this for 5 miles to Getty Villa. Metro Bus 534 goes from Sunset Boulevard to the site. Alight at the corner of Coastline Drive/Pacific Coast Highway - museum entrance is across the road – the driver of the bus must punch your entry ticket for the museum to prove that you arrived by public transport, otherwise the museum does not allow walk-ins.

Ticket Information:
The Getty Villa is open daily except Tuesdays, 10am-5pm. Closed on 1 Jan, 4 July, Thanksgiving and 25 Dec. Admission is free, but visitors must obtain timed tickets in advance from the museum’s official site. Note that, if you’re planning to travel by bus, you’ll need the bus driver to hole punch your ticket.

There is a café and a coffee kiosk. Parking is available and costs $15 per vehicle
